The Problems Belly Fat Creates for Women
Belly fat is a huge problem for many women, and the older they are, the bigger the problem becomes. There are several ways that the swollen fat cells in your abdominal region takes a toll on you. There are several health risks that can be linked directly to belly fat, and there is also an emotional toll as well. What you should never do is ignore your belly fat or think that it is something that you simply have to live with.
When you have a flabby stomach, it becomes very difficult to feel good about yourself, knowing that fat is oozing over the waistband of your jeans makes it very difficult to be confident about yourself. When you are out in public it seems like you cannot shake the sensation that everyone is staring at your stomach and making judgments about its size. The longer you have belly fat, the more it erodes at your confidence. This increases the likelihood that you will become depressed. Depression often leads to stress eating which in turn can into stress eating, which leads to more fat, creating a vicious circle.
Your mental health and self-confidence are not the only victims of belly fat; your physical health will suffer as well. Most women assume that the only people who have to worry about health problems that are connected to belly fat are the ones who are severely overweight. This type of thinking is erroneous. The truth is that simply having 4.5 pounds of surplus belly fat increases the chances that you will develop breast cancer by 30%. The extra 4.5 pounds also increases the chances that you could be diagnosed with other health problems that include diabetes, heart disease, hyper-tension, and metabolic syndrome.
You should also know that you don’t just have to worry about the fat that you can see. Deep inside there is another layer of fat that is every bit as harmful as the fat that is oozing over your waist band. This hidden fat is pressing against your vital organs, making it very difficult for them to function properly. The more visceral fat you develop, the more health problems you will develop.
One of the mistakes that women often make is thinking that they simply have to live with their flabby tummy, that it is a normal part of the aging process. While it is true that the older you get, the more prone to belly fat you are going to become, that does not mean it is something you need to accept. It does not matter how young or old you are, you can fight back against belly fat by using the right combination of exercise and diet.
